With the CDL staying put at 12 franchise teams going into the second season and the format going from 5v5 to 4v4, there are a lot of very talented players on the outside looking in. There are already many amateur teams that could compete against the franchise teams and would make excellent additions to the League.
Before we get into who our creators picked to roster their hypothetical 13th teams, we’ll break down some of the top complete AM teams and top free agents currently.
This squad is full of talent and showcased it during the Fero Memorial F3K 2020 this weekend when they took down UYU, Dallas Empire, Minnesota Rokkr, and the Florida Mutineers in their run to second place. GRVTY, Paul, and Venom were a part of the FaZe Academy team last season. Zaptius found success in 2019 during BO4, playing the Pro League under UYU & Midnight. This team will surely be a top AM team all season long.
This team has been one of the best amateur teams in pro scrims early on, taking many maps off many of the franchise teams. Drazah finished last season apart of the OpTic Gaming LA squad and has continued to have great form going into Black Ops Cold War. Davpadie was one of the top performers on both Triumph and UYU during Modern Warfare. Both Optimum and Prolute have made names for themselves in the SnD circuit and look to grow in respawns.
The champions of the 2020 challengers circuit, Triumph are back with an even more dangerous roster this season. Star players Standy, Royalty, and FeLo return to the roster, while General joins the roster from OpTic Chicago. This roster doesn’t lack any firepower, and will just continue to get better as the season progresses and look to make it back to back championships in Challengers.
This is a roster that would 100% be a professional team if the League expanded from the 12 original teams. Blazt and Decemate competed in the Pro circuit during Modern Warfare under the LA Guerrillas. Parasite has been a professional player for many seasons but hasn’t been able to break back into the league since the end of Black Ops 4. Neptune is more of an unknown, coming into the Challengers scene from Halo. He is very mechanically gifted and should continue to grow as the season moves along.
uT Crew x FaZe
This loaded squad formed with multiple ex-FaZe clan players and academy players from last season. Sibilants is a very gifted player that spent last season learning on ATL Academy. He is going to be one of the next star players to come up, but just needs a bit more time to grow. Wrecks and Phantomz are great AR players that should thrive in the current meta, as the latter showcased his AR play in the Pro League in Black Ops 4.
The ANZ super team is formed from 2 stars that were cut from the Paris Legion and 2 young stars in the making. Louqa and Shockz played very well at times last season and should be able to dominate the ANZ scene if they do not make it back over to NA. Fighta is a long-time Australian player, having been apart of Mindfreak for 5 years and running the ANZ last season a part of the Renegades. The new star of the team is Pred, an aggressive SMG that will surely be the next ANZ star, as his gameplay has been outstanding since he broke into the scene last season.
One of the top European teams, the team is loaded with potential. Maple, Detain, & Bidz return from the successful Modern Warfare campaign and are joined by Denza from Team WaR. If the roster ever makes their way over the pond, they’d certainly compete against the best NA had to offer. The team has loads of slaying power and will continue to get better as the season progresses.
While there are so many more top amateur teams that we could keep listing, the list would drag on forever with the three regions split. Instead, we’d like to touch on some of the notable professional players that became Free Agents this season. Players like:
- AquA (rumored to be a part of Paris)
- Enable (now retired)
and so many more. All of these players could combine to make top teams that would easily rival those in the CDL. But who did our content creators pick to make their hypothetical 13th pro team?
-Asim goes to New York
-Slacked goes to Florida
-Temp goes to 100 Thieves
-Fire, AquA, & Skrapz go to Paris…
“This is a team that will undoubtedly play fundamentally good Call of Duty. Rated is a traditional AR that knows his role. Jurd hasn’t really had the chance to be the main slayer for a team in a while. Zed is one of the most selfless players around and an SND general. Tommey brings it all together as the glue of the team with the ability to pop off.”
“With the AR-dominated meta that Cold War facilitates, Wuskin and GodRx provide the greatest slaying power with these weapons outside of the league. Both have experience dominating with the sniper rifle in Search and Destroy. I round out the lineup with veteran players with the winning experience, to put the AR firepower to best use. Classic, dropped from Toronto Ultra despite an excellent individual season, partners with Jurd, one of the most talented SMGs to ever grace the game. This top-heavy roster is reliant on the present meta persisting, and chemistry is no guarantee. Likely in the top 8 range.”
*If I could buyout sub players
“This squad would have loads of potential, with young star players Drazah, Pred, and Sibilants being guided by the veteran AR Denz. The league needs more ANZ representation and I believe that Pred is the next big thing to come from the region. Drazah and Sibilants would thrive under the leadership of Denz and be able to showcase their true potential. Given enough time and with the right coaching staff, this could be a dark horse team in the CDL.”
*If I couldn’t buyout/trade for subs
Who would you sign to be the 13th roster of the CDL?
