The Tactical Recap #25

Welcome to the Tactical Recap. The top five Call of Duty League storylines of the week. Don’t have enough time to catch all of TacticalRab’s videos? We’ve got you covered! Put a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ in the comments to let us know you’re reading!

CDL In Shambles

With the release of Warzone 2, multiplayer was sent into disarray with the CDL moshpit being delayed, CDL rules removed from custom games, and an array of friends list and dev errors which prevented pros practicing for four days. Envoy clarified that the full fix isn’t expected until after the CDL starts, meaning the rules will likely be incorrect.

Boycott?

Pros have been debating over what route they could take to make more of a difference to the developer’s focus on the CDL. Despite making their thoughts known, some pros believe it’s the org owners who should do the lobbying, whereas SlasheR seems to indicate strike action may heed results. A proper player union may be another route that could be taken to make changes.

Clayster vs Scrappy

TacticalScrap was looking for the smoke, with a new nickname for Clayster by calling him “Grayster”. Clay calls him out, stating he should know his place talking trash on a three-time world champion before he’s even played an event at the pro level. We all know Scrappy will talk his talk but can he back it up this year in the pro league?

CDL Rankings

Coaches believe LA Thieves and FaZe are in a tier of their own, with Vegas 5th and OpTic 7th in a packed midfield. The London Royal Ravens are bringing it up the rear from everyone’s perspective with FaZe even laughing at London in their power rankings video. Will this year be competitive or will we see some dominance from the top teams?

Scump is “100%” Gone

In light of the unplayability drama, Scump had previously stated that he would keep playing into 2024 if OpTic won all six events next season. He has now confirmed that regardless of what happens next year, he’s not coming back, implying he’s not a big fan of the state of MW2 as it stands. It is sad to see these CDL era CoD’s taking out some of the greats.

  1. I tend to dislike pre-season power-rankings – we don’t have enough data and the justifications are weak.
I hope for a competitive year. However, I think there are a few issues with the the CDL point allocation system that persisted from last year that are problematic. Leading to misleading and exaggerating differences in scores
