The Tactical Recap #11

Welcome to the Tactical Recap. The top five Call of Duty League storylines of the week. Don’t have enough time to catch all of TacticalRab’s videos? We’ve got you covered! Put a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ in the comments to let us know you’re reading!

1. Velly Resigns Before Champs

The Call of Duty community was confused and upset at the sudden news of Velly resigning from the Call of Duty League just weeks before champs. Initial reports from Dexerto stated that he was asked to resign by the league for an “intoxicated altercation”. Velly later stated that he left on his own volition. Crimsix witnessed the altercation and he noted that it wasn’t very serious and Velly was not the aggressor. Many details remain unknown in the story but the community has shown tons of support for Velly after his resignation.

2. Crimbot vs stAttach

Crimsix throws shots at Attach stating that his playstyle is selfish and makes him look way better than his teammates. Attach effectively put Crimsix in the D tier of a player tier list for this season. They would soon hit the blue bird to go back and forth over the situation.

After their exchange on Twitter Crimsix watched some VOD with Attach on stream and Crimsix somewhat backtracked on his statements. Attach seemed to be the only bright spot for Minnesota this year, but was it at the expense of his teammates?

3. The MVP Race

The MVP race is effectively down to two players. Dashy and Cellium have nearly identical statistical numbers so it’s hard to pick one or the other. Dashy has won an event this year where he took home MVP honors, but Cellium has had better average placings all year. In what seems to be a 50/50 decision, Cellium looks to be the favorite. Cellium seems to be the critical factor for his team’s success and he has the ability to take over games. Is the Major I win enough to propel Dashy to number one or has Cellium proven to be the better player overall?

4. Rostermania

As we near the end of the 2022 Call of Duty League season, rostermania starts to kick into force. It seems that FaZe have all re-signed for next season going into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which was expected from this team considering how they are always near the top. The free agent pool looks spicy this off-season as well with players such as HyDra, Afro, and Standy on the SMG and AR players such as Attach, Owakening, Skyz, and Clayster. All of these players could be huge pickups for teams and just one move can create a domino effect for the entire league.

5. Challengers LCQ

Despite all of the out-cry, Challengers Champs will take place with eight teams and four of them qualified from the LCQ. There were four Last Chance Qualifiers taking place in four different regions.

Clayster and Co. managed to beat out some of the best North American teams to qualify for champs and the European LCQ ended with a full Spanish team taking home the win. We will now see three North American and three Europe teams at champs, as well as one Latin American and one Asia/Pacific team rounding out the top eight.
