Offseason Recap: Joe & the European Trio
Signings:
+ Ben "Beans" McMellon
+ Joseph "JoeDeceives" Romero
Releases:
- Thomas "Scrap" Ernst
- Dylan "Envoy" Hannon
The Toronto Ultra had a busy offseason, as they saw their ex-Rookie of the Year depart the franchise with their key offseason signing from last year. Both Scrap & Envoy were sold to the LA Thieves, helping create a new super-team within the CDL. The Ultra did manage to have a good offseason, signing key replacements that should keep the franchise in contention while keeping the two foundational players in Insight & CleanX on the starting roster. Netting JoeDeceives from LAT was a key signing, bringing in the objective efficiency and great SND play. Beans will be the new AR duo with Insight. These two signings should make Ultra one of the best SND teams in the entire League, making them dangerous on tournament weekends. Guided by Flux & Joee, don't sleep on the Ultra in Black Ops 6.
The Toronto Ultra roster heading into Black Ops 6:

○ Tobias "CleanX" Juul Jønsson
○ Ben "Beans" McMellon

○ Ryan "Flux" Oldfield [Coach]
○ Joseph "Joee" Pinnington [Coach]
Offseason Reactions
Ronnie: "Toronto has had a busy offseason, and the organization is taking measures to cut the playing staff budget for the upcoming season. The team was told after the Esports World Cup that it's no longer possible to keep them all together, so that saw superstar Thomas "Scrappy" Ernst leave for LAT; he was also joined by Dylan "Envoy" Hannon. That then left long-term EU duo Jamie "Insight" Craven and Tobias "CleanX" Juul Jønsson to fend for themselves and find a roster that could compete with the big 3.
The first thing they knew they had to do was replace the slaying of Scrappy, and I would say they got the best available player on the market for that in Ben "Beans" McMellon. If the highly rated coaching staff of Toronto can fix the fundamental issues Beans sometimes has, they have a real player on their hands. The next job was to replace Envoy; they had two main targets: one of them was José "ReeaL" Manuel Fernández from Miami, but neither org could come to an agreement, so instead they went for highly rated young gun Joseph "JoeDeceives" Romero from LAT. Considering the situation, Toronto entered the offseason, and they did a very good job of putting a good roster together."
Easy Mac: “This offseason could've gone south quickly for the Toronto franchise, but it also could've gone potentially a lot better. Scrap wanted to play with Paco "HyDra" Rusiewiez, but that could've happened on a number of franchises. Toronto could've kept both Scrap & Envoy, bought out HyDra from New York, and worked on filling out the roster. They opted to sell both players to the LA Thieves instead, which was highly risky letting a potential MVP winner walk out the door. They did however recover nicely. Keeping both CleanX & Insight in the fold was a must. They are staples of the franchise and very talented. To fill out the remaining two spots they signed two high-potential players. Beans is a very agro AR player, who can shine when he's on. He'll be the main damage dealer this year and should fit excellently in Scrap's old role. JoeDecieves is also very similar to Envoy, while also having a high ceiling. He is a great SND player who will help get the most out of his SMG duo. If this team clicks, they will be very dangerous.
Season Expectations
Ronnie: “Season expectations should be to become the clear 4th-best team and put a gap between them and the rest while trying to keep up with the big 3. I'm sure Ultra will understand they may come unstuck more often than not vs. the big 3, but if they can all click at once, I have no doubt they could win an event."
Black Ops 6 Season Predictions
Best Placement: 2nd
Team MVP: Beans
Final Regular Season Seed: 4th
Will they qualify for Champs: Yes
Easy Mac: “The Ultra are one of the harder teams to read this offseason. I actually love the signings they had, picking players that should be able to fill the roles left by Envoy & Scrap. They will be an elite SND team, but it'll remain to be seen how their respawn modes will develop. I currently have New York & Vancouver being the only teams above them in the standings besides the Top 3 teams, but I can easily see Toronto finishing 4th. I can't wait to see the Surge, Ultra, and Cloud9 fight against each other this season & see how they stack up against the elite teams. Overall, expect multiple top 4 placements this year. If they can limit their floor (i.e. a Top 12 finish at a Major), they'll be in the hunt for the 4th seed going into Champs."

Players to Watch in Black Ops 6
Ronnie: “Ben "Beans" McMellon can show that he's not just gun and run and can actually play COD to a high level; if he can, Toronto will be a force, especially if he gets back to his MW2 SND form. A key part for Beans will be that he's finally starting a season in the CDL and will be learning the game at the same pace as everyone instead of in previous years where he had to catch up fast coming in midseason."
Easy Mac: “I have to go with Tobias "CleanX" Juul Jønsson. He is the vet on this roster, having joined the team in MW19. We all know that CleanX is a high-paced SMG that can light it up but also can get caught out at times. For the Ultra to be good this year and compete, they'll need CleanX to be in sync this the rest of the team, which with agro players being added shouldn't be too much of an issue. I fully expect this team to be one of the better SND teams with CleanX leading the way.
