Sources: Vancouver Surge Set to Allow Players to Explore Options

The Vancouver Surge is willing to let all four players explore their options for the upcoming Esports World Cup (EWC), as their contracts are set to expire on July 15th, and the team has decided not to offer new ones.

The current plan is for the players to compete under the Vancouver banner at the EWC, but they will not receive any compensation from the team, as the EWC will fund the entire event. Each player is guaranteed a minimum payout of $5,000 regardless of the situation. This includes the four starting players in Jay "Craze" Mallhi, Noah "Lunarz" Whillock, Paul "Mamba" Solano, and Dylan "Nero" Koch.

Sources indicate that the players are looking into other opportunities, including Challenger rosters. Still, their prospects will largely depend on the actions of the other 11 Call of Duty League teams. However, if no suitable options arise, they understand that they have nothing to lose and will look to showcase their skills while still representing Vancouver.

Vancouver views this as an opportunity to save cash while planning for future seasons. There have been indications over the past few months that the organization is set to have a bigger budget next year, but this recent decision could suggest otherwise.
