MW3 AR Player of the Year Ladder | February 27th

The League returned for the Major 2 Qualifiers, giving fans some of the best series of the season in the opening weeks. While the top teams are still the ones on top of the standings, they have been pushed to the limit in multiple series so far. 

Entering the third week of qualifiers for Major 2, Breaking Point has updated our rankings for the AR Player of the Year race. Players are ranked based on their performances from the season so far. These rankings will continue to change, as the new patch has spiced up the competition, but this piece serves to give a great insight into how the season has gone so far!

Storylines to watch

The rematch of the Major 1 Grand Finals will take place next weekend on Sunday, March 3rd at 4:30 pm EST. Atlanta FaZe are now 0-2 against the Toronto Ultra, going 0-7 in Hardpoint & SND combined. They have only been able to beat Toronto in the Controls and are now coming off a 3-2 defeat to the hands of the New York Subliners. Both teams have two of the best AR duos in the League and will see multiple MVP candidates battle in what will surely be one of the best series of the qualifiers. Then in the following weekend on March 10th, Toronto will take on OpTic Texas. Scrap & Insight will have to play 4 of the Top 8 ARs in the game in back-to-back weeks.

Best Series of the Year - Major 2 Qualifiers vs Miami Heretics

The Star player for the Ultra popped off against the Spanish in the first series of Major 2 Qualifiers. Scrap finished the series with a 1.46 overall KD, his highest single-series KD of the year. He had 67 kills over three maps played, tying the fourth-highest kill total in a 3-0 in the CDL this season (Fame #1 with 72). Scrap had a 1.30 KD in Hardpoint with 5058 damage, 1.75 KD in SND while going 4-0 in opening duels, and 1.50 KD in Control with 4 ticks captured. In every metric, Scrap destroyed the Miami Heretics.

Best Series of the Year - Major 1 Qualifiers vs OpTic Texas

During the Major 1 Qualifiers, Atlanta FaZe took on the OpTic Texas in the final match of the qualifier. After struggling for two years against OpTic, Atlanta FaZe finally took a series 3-0 to finish the qualifier a perfect 7-0. Cellium led the way with a 1.56 KD over the three maps. He finished 11-2 in the SND (5.50 KD) with 2139 damage and went 33-20 in the Control (1.65 KD) with a 1.78 attacking KD. While this wasn’t the series the Cellium had his highest series KD, it was his most impactful series this season.

Best Series of the Year - Major 1 Grand Finals vs Atlanta FaZe

Insight reached another level to his game during the Major 1 Grand Finals against the Atlanta FaZe. The star Main AR finished with a 1.42 series KD, his highest of the season behind 85 kills and just 60 deaths over the five maps. Insight ended the series with a 1.32 KD in Hardpoint with 110 seconds of hill time per game, 2.43 SND KD over two maps, and a 1.19 KD in Control. Jamie was the MVP of the series, carrying the Ultra to a dominant 4-1 victory.

Best Series of the Year - Major 1 Qualifiers vs Carolina Royal Ravens

After starting the season 2-0 in the Major 1 Qualifiers, OpTic Texas took on Carolina Royal Ravens in what would be a blood bath. Dashy would take over, finishing with a 1.84 overall KD in the series, which is still the highest single-series KD of the season. When this game was played, Dashy set the highest Hardpoint KD with a 2.30 in Map 1 and then the highest SND KD with a 4.00 in Map 2. His teammate Pred finished the Map 3 Control 27-10 (2.70 KD), setting the highest Control KD on the season to date. In what was the most one-sided victory of the season, Dashy was the main component to Texas’ success.

Best Series of the Year - Major 2 Qualifiers vs Seattle Surge

After having a Major to forget to begin the season, New York has come with the fire during the Major 2 Qualifiers. The Subliners are now 4-0 after taking down Atlanta FaZe on Sunday and currently hold the 1st seed. Skyz helped the team stomp the Seattle Surge in one of the quickest series of the season. Cesar had a 1.40 KD or better in every single mode. He finished with a 1.69 KD in Hardpoint, 1.40 KD in SND, and 1.56 KD in Control. It was a takeover series for Skyz, as he led the Subliners to an easy 3-0 victory.
