From Wasted to Wanted: Nastie’s Second Life on G2 Minnesota

EasyMac

Byron "Nastie" Plumridge’s first outing in a G2 Minnesota jersey wasn’t flashy on the stat sheet, but it showed glimpses of why the organization paid to pry him out of Boston. Freed from a Breach roster that was effectively out of the Champs race, the star AR finally stepped into a situation where his composure and consistency actually mattered for something, and his debut against New York looked exactly like a veteran feeling out new teammates while still doing his job.

From Eliminated to Head in the Clouds

Result: 3-1 win Friday vs Cloud9 New York

Minnesota’s 3-1 win over New York on Friday gave Nastie a soft landing spot against weaker opposition, and he handled it professionally. He finished the series with 77 kills, a 0.95 K/D (-4), and 10,664 damage, numbers that won’t turn heads but also never put his team in danger. The real bright spot was his 1.13 Hardpoint K/D, where he anchored lanes, held power positions, and helped keep the respawns under control while the subs dictated the pace around him.

Debut Weekend Grade: B

Given that G2 brought in two new pieces this Stage, some level of disjointedness was always going to be part of the equation, and you could see moments where the synergy wasn’t quite there yet, most notably in the Overload. But the team looked clean in both Search and the second Hardpoint. Nastie didn’t need to hard‑carry; he needed to slot in and elevate the floor, and that’s what he did.

With that in mind, a Debut Weekend Grade of B feels right. It was a solid opening match against a very beatable opponent, and while the raw numbers were only “okay,” the overall team performance and composure were encouraging. At the end of the day, G2 got exactly what they wanted: a true star AR who raises their postseason ceiling, even if his first box score in purple didn’t fully tell that story yet.
