The Vancouver Surge has announced that Paul “Breszy” Breszynski and Cuyler “Huke” Garland have been released from the team.

Breszy signed with the Surge mid-season in place of Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson, joining his ex-teammate Jordan “Abuzah” François and making his return to the Pro League for the first time since 2019. After a strong showing in Challengers during the CDL era, his return was highly anticipated.

The Frenchman played a crucial role in turning the team around, helping unlock the best from rookies Abuzah and Jovan “O4” Rodriguez. Individually, Breszy ended the year with a 0.90 overall KD with a 71.3% non-traded kill percentage. He played at his best during the final tournament, the Esports World Cup. At that tournament, Breszy ended with a 1.07 KD in SND and 1.15 KD in Control.

The Entry SMG Huke was also released from his contract. Huke was instrumental to the Surge game plan in SND, leading the squad with 68 plants and 94 opening duels won. He finished the year with a 0.92 overall KD with a 75.4 Slayer Rating and 0.92 respawn KD.

With the roster down to just Abuzah & O4, the Surge will be scouting free agents to help the squad reach new heights in Black Ops 6. After acquiring O4, the team reached the Top 6 at two Majors, qualified for COD Champs, and finished Top 4 at EWC. With two cornerstone players on the roster, they have a high potential for next season.
