Major 1 in Madrid was a thrill and so will the next Major in Texas. With OpTic Texas hosting the event, the venue will surely be packed full of energy and passion. While the event is still a little less than three weeks away, the upcoming Minor tournament provides fans with a break from the qualifiers and showcases a bracket tournament. It'll be very useful to gauge the middle-of-the-pack teams, with 3rd through 9th all being very competitive currently.
Therefore, it's time for the fourth edition of the Breaking Point Power Rankings to pin where each team is going into the Minor. Here is how the BreakingPoint team ranks each of the teams at the current moment.
How the teams are ranked: The writers, stats team, and content team at Breaking Point were polled to rate each of the 12 teams β putting more weight on recency instead of the entire season. Since there have only been two weeks of play, the team was assigned to rank the teams going into the Minor. Each ranks the teams 1st through 12th. After collecting the rankings from the BP team, each team would be given points for each vote, as seen below:
1st β 12 points
2nd β 11 points
3rd β 10 points
4th β 9 points
5th β 8 points
6th β 7 points
7th β 6 points
8th β 5 points
9th β 4 points
10th β 3 points
11th β 2 point
12th β 1 points

Atlanta continues to roll in Stage 2, but did fall to Vancouver in their opening match. Fans could be treated to a rematch in Round 2, seeing the Travis "Neptune" McCloud lead Surge battling it out with the reigning Major 1 Champions. While the CDL points from the Minor aren't important, continuing to sustain their map pool and form is key.

2nd: Los Angeles Thieves
Voting: 11.0 Avg Points, S Tier
11-5 Record (69%), 43-25 Map Count (63%), 155 CDL points (2nd Seed)
Roster: Envoy - Ghosty - HyDra - Scrap
Previous Ranking: 2nd (Unchanged)
Next Match: Saturday - March 1st at 7:30 pm EST vs winner of MIN/C9NY
After a slow start to the season to their standards, the Thieves are now clear-cut a Top 2 team with Atlanta. They'll want to get revenge and win the Minor after falling in the first one. It's not about winning an online tournament, it's beating Atlanta and gaining confidence for future matchups.
Voting: 9.7 Avg Points, B+ Tier
12-7 Record (63%), 43-34 Map Count (56%), 135 CDL points (3rd Seed)
Roster: Gwinn - SlasheR - TJHaly - Vivid
Previous Ranking: 4th (Up 1 Spot)
Next Match: Saturday - March 1st at 3:00 pm EST vs winner of MIA/M8s
While they aren't the flashiest team in the League, they continue to get results. Their slaying isn't overpowering but they play sound, fundamental Call of Duty that keeps them in any map or series. The squad has a good route to Round 3, facing one of two teams that are ranked far below them. Continuing to earn CDL points will be crucial to locking down a Champs spot early in the season if they haven't already.
4th: Vancouver Surge
Voting: 8.7 Avg Points, B+ Tier
7-6 Record (54%), 27-29 Map Count (48%), 70 CDL points (9th Seed)
Roster: O4 - abuzah - Nastie - Neptune
Previous Ranking: 11th (Up 7 Spots)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 6:00 pm EST vs Boston Breach
Maybe we're on a sugar high here, but the Vancouver Surge is a completely new team with Neptune in the lineup. Their pace & slaying power has significantly increased, which has allowed them to gloss over any short-term issues. If they continue in this form, they'll be a Sunday contender this season.
5th: Minnesota RΓKKR
Voting: 7.3 Avg Points, B Tier
9-8 Record (53%), 38-35 Map Count (52%), 90 CDL points (5th Seed)
Roster: Estreal - Gio - Nero - PaulEhx
Previous Ranking: 7th (Up 2 Spots)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 7:30 pm EST vs Cloud9 New York
The Rokkr have continued to improve this season, and perhaps we haven't even seen them at their best just yet. The Sophomore duo of Estreal & Gio have shown great growth this season, while the veterans Nero & PaulEhx have improved their consistency so far. If they can reach another level, they can develop into Sunday contenders & take advantage of stumbles from the top teams.

6th: Toronto Ultra
Voting: 7.3 Avg Points, B Tier
9-6 Record (60%), 32-29 Map Count (53%), 110 CDL points (4th Seed)
Roster: Beans - CleanX - Insight - JoeDeceives
Previous Ranking: 6th (Unchanged)
Next Match: Saturday - March 1st at 6:00 pm EST vs winner of TX/VGS
Ultra is in the thick middle of the CDL right now. They certainly have the potential to be a Top 4 team consistently in the League but can struggle against the best teams. If they can click in all three modes at the same time, they are better than 6th in the power ranking. The Minor will be a good chance for them to build for the rest of the stage.
7th: Cloud9 New York
Voting: 6.3 Avg Points, B- Tier
6-9 Record (40%), 30-30 Map Count (50%), 55 CDL points (10th Seed)
Roster: Attach - Kremp - Mack - Sib
Previous Ranking: 9th (Up 2 Spots)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 7:30 pm EST vs Minnesota Rokkr
After a terrible start to the season, the New York squad is back. Led by Daunte "Sib" Gray, they have shown that they are better than their 6-9 record suggests. This team will be prone to slumps, but when they're hot, they can beat almost any team in the League. While the Major is the true test, taking down Minnesota will be a huge confidence boost, and earning some CDL points would take pressure off the squad.
8th: Miami Heretics
Voting: 5.7 Avg Points, B- Tier
6-10 Record (38%), 31-37 Map Count (46%), 90 CDL points (6th Seed)
Roster: Lucky - MettalZ - ReeaL - RenKoR
Previous Ranking: 5th (Down 3 Spots)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 3:00 pm EST vs LA Guerrillas M8
The Miami Heretics are the hardest team to place on a power rankings in the League. They played very well at the Major, but the 6-10 series record suggests that they're below that performance. This shouldn't be taken as disrespect, they could easily be a few places higher. It just goes to show how balanced the middle of the CDL is currently. The Minor gives the Heretics a chance to prove us wrong and show that they are a tournament team, not one for qualifiers.
9th: Boston Breach
Voting: 3.7 Avg Points, C Tier
7-7 Record (50%), 29-33 Map Count (47%), 70 CDL points (8th Seed)
Roster: Cammy - Owakening - Purj - Snoopy
Previous Ranking: 8th (Down 1 Spot)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 6:00 pm EST vs Vancouver Surge
Speaking of hard-to-place, the Breach also fits that description. They are actually a good Hardpoint team, but inconsistent in the other two game modes. This has allowed them to stay in the series but give away wins they should've closed out. The Minor is a chance for the Breach to get more practice in those modes, as securing an Upper Bracket start at the Major is more important than the CDL points they could earn here.

10th: OpTic Texas
Voting: 3.3 Avg Points, D+ Tier
9-7 Record (56%), 34-32 Map Count (52%), 85 CDL points (7th Seed)
Roster: Dashy - Kenny - Pred - Shotzzy
Previous Ranking: 3rd (Down 7 Spots)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 4:30 pm EST vs Vegas Falcons
The coldest team in the CDL, Texas has plummeted in the Power Ranking. First things first, they are clearly not the 10th-best team in the CDL when they are right. But currently, they are struggling incredibly badly. The community is pointing towards each of the players, trying to figure out why the team has lost all their form and confidence. They just have to reset this weekend and get good practice to get back on track. This Minor means little in terms of points, what they need is confidence for the final two weeks of Major 2 Qualifiers.
11th: Los Angeles Guerrillas M8
Voting: 2.0 Avg Points, D- Tier
2-10 Record (17%), 20-30 Map Count (40%), 20 CDL points (11th Seed)
Roster: KiSMET - Lynz - Priestahh - Skyz - Lunarz
Previous Ranking: 10th (Down 1 Spot)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 3:00 pm EST vs Miami Heretics
One team that should be thanking the Falcons the most is the LA Guerrillas M8. They are the worst team in the League outside of Vegas and have seemed to dodge a lot of criticism due to that. After 12 series, the M8s have just 20 CDL points to show for it and are 50 CDL points behind 8th place. This Minor means much more to LA than any other team in the CDL. They need points and, more importantly, need to show signs of life.
12th: Vegas Falcons
Voting: 1.0 Avg Points, F Tier
0-13 Record (0%), 6-39 Map Count (13%), 0 CDL points (12th Seed)
Roster: D7oomx - Exnid - KiinG - WXSL
Previous Ranking: 12th (Unchanged)
Next Match: Friday - February 28th at 4:30 pm EST vs OpTic Texas
The Falcons have struggled massively this season, but we won't continue to pile on the criticism and hate. They can become an upset team due to their SND form, but they must improve in respawns to give them a chance. This is the youngest team in the CDL and the MENA region didn't play respawns until last season (6v6 SND was the ruleset). Maybe they'll turn a corner soon enough.
