The next match would be history. The first series for OpTic since 2014 where Scump was not in the lobby. The newly retired Scump would be co-streaming the match, as Dashy returned to the starting lineup to take on the Seattle Surge.
The first look at the post Scump era seemed to be starting out just as the Greenwall would’ve hoped as OpTic Texas came out hot and instantly went 100 points up after the first few hills. Shotzzy was a constant thorn in the Surges side as he kept finding himself behind Seattle and able to flip spawns. In the exact same fashion as OpTic did, Seattle came storming back into the match and OpTic could not handle it as Sib and Pred continued there insane form from the season so far. After the first 3 hills OpTic Texas led the Surge 121-21, Surge went on to out score them 229-46 in the next 6 hills.
Map 2 was highlight central as iLLeY and Sib traded huge snipes and Shotzzy and Pred traded aggressive highlight plays. In the end OpTic Texas came out better on the map as they emerged 6-4 despite a 14/7 performance from the Thunder from Down Under.
Onto El Asilo Control and OpTic quickly chained together an Offensive victory into a strong Defense before Seattle answered back in Round 3. Seattle would start out round 4 hot as they secured a fast B capture with Accuracy trapping OpTic in their spawn, despite this OpTic and especially iLLeY from atop the Radio Tower went huge to hold out the A Zone and move up 2-1 in the series after a 3-1 Control victory.
Seattle started out in a similar fashion as OpTic did Map 1 as Sib started out with back to back 8 sprees giving the Surge a 120 point lead early on. OpTic managed to pull off a huge break on P5 to keep the score line respectable but the Taller Terrors continued to put the hurt on OpTic Texas and closed out another comfortable Hardpoint. When you have Sib at 32/12 combined with Pred and 28/15 the Surge what can you really do to compete?
OpTic dominated the opening 3 rounds of Fortress SnD before Seattle tried to fight back with a random B Hit which saw Shotzzy and Huke pull off the 2v4 putting them 4-0 up. Surge took 2 consolation rounds before OpTic closed it out 6-2 in flawless fashion. OpTic starting out the post Scump era with a victory. Seattle are now 1-6 in Online Matches and 0-10 in Online SnD Maps, they may be able to perform on Lan but it will be difficult if they have to start in the Losers bracket.
