OpTic: Prolute in for injured iLLeY

OpTic Texas have just announced the signing of Byron “Prolute” Vera on a short-term contract. Prolute will be standing in for iLLeY, who missed the recent CDL Pro-Am Classic due to an ongoing thumb injury.

Last season, Prolute won Challengers Champs alongside Spart, Saints, and Mohak. Prolute has had mixed success this season with a win at Challengers Cup #2 before a disappointing middle stretch of the season. He recently switched to the flex role on his new team and has helped lead them to a 2nd place finish in the Clutch Cup and qualification for the NA Stage 3 Elite. Before the call up, Prolute was competing in Challengers alongside New York Subliners substitute player Neptune, former Toronto Ultra player Brack, and 2ReaL.

His previous experience as a fast pace SMG player may make him a much more natural replacement for iLLeY than General (who replaced him at the Pro-Am). Despite a solid display and top 4 finish for OpTic at the event, there were clear pacing issues between General and star AR Dashy in the respawn game modes.

OpTic Texas is set to face the Major 2 Champions Los Angeles Guerrillas, Florida Mutineers, Atlanta FaZe, New York Subliners and Los Angeles Thieves during the Stage 3 Qualifiers. It is currently unclear how long Prolute will be set to fill in for but it is expected that he will at least complete the first 2 matches this week.
