Hicksy in, Standy out for the Ultra
The Toronto Ultra have announced that they will be bring in substitute player Charlie “Hicksy” Hicks to replace Eli “Standy” Bentz in the starting roster.
Ultra had a rough ending to their Major 2 run. After beating LA Guerrillas in the opening round, the Ultra lost to Atlanta FaZe and LA Thieves 0-3 to finish Top 6 for the tournament. It was a disappointing result for a team that was aiming for a championship.
The struggle continued over to Major 3 Qualifiers for the team as well. In their first match against the Boston Breach, the Breach won 3-1 even while getting out-slayed by 13 kills in the series.

Hicksy has been a mainstay within the Ultra organization the past two seasons. After a very successful Cold War season with Elevate, Hicksy was signed as the team’s substitute and headlined their North American Academy roster with Javier “Vikul” Milagro, Mohak “Mohak” Kumar, and Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst. This season the Ultra do not have any academy rosters, but Hicksy has teamed with prospects Thomas “GRVTY” Malin, Kenyen “Capsidal” Sutton, David “Davpadie” Maslowski, and Conor “Diamondcon” Johst this season.
Hicksy competed in Stage 1 of the Challengers Elite this season as well, finishing Top 6. During the stage, he finished with:
0.97 overall KD
1.00 Hardpoint KD
0.88 SnD KD
0.93 Control KD
78.0 Slayer Rating
68.4 non-traded kill %
After four matches in Stage 2 of the Challengers Elite this season, his numbers have stayed very similar with a major bump up in production in Control.
1.00 overall KD
0.97 Hardpoint KD
0.93 SnD KD
1.10 Control KD
77.8 Slayer Rating
69.6 non-traded kill %
Expect Hicksy to continue at this level in the CDL while helping provide a leadership quality to help the Ultra for the remainder of the Major 3 Qualifiers.
Toronto’s remaining Major 3 Qualifier schedule is:
vs Las Vegas Legion on February 19th
vs OpTic Texas on February 24th
vs New York Subliners on February 25th
vs London Royal Ravens on March 4th
