Competitive Map Breakdowns

EDIT : CDL has now released a new version of the map set.

Breenburgh Hotel has been added for Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Control
Farm 18 has been removed from Control and Search & Destroy
Embassy has been removed from Control
Fortress has been added to Control and Search & Destroy
El Asilo has been added to Control

The competitive ruleset has just been released by the CDL. This detailed the map pool for the start of the 2023 season, as well as the rules that will be in place. For a further breakdown of the entire ruleset, check out CRONE’S Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Gentlemen’s Agreement list and Official Ruleset here!

Due to Infinity Ward making real life locations into maps, we saw two key maps be left out of the rotation. Those are Breenberg Hotel and Crown Raceway, which both would certainly be used in almost every single CDL mode. Without those maps we have been left with just 8 maps across the three modes. This isn’t the CDLs fault, they are not the ones making the maps and are not able to make changes to the game.

This brings one major issue into Major 1. A lack of maps makes vetoes incredibly unbalanced, as Team A will decide which Control map will be played. Not only that, the Best of 7 final will only see 1 map being vetoed. Thankfully, we don’t have Best of 9 finals this year.

Without further ado, here are the EIGHT CDL competitive map breakdowns for the start of Modern Warfare II:
