Challengers’ Elite Viewer’s Guide [S4W2]

Breakingpoint.GG presents a detailed viewer’s guide for the upcoming week of Stage 4 Challengers’ Elite. The second week of matches starts today to decide who makes Playoffs!

The final stage of Elite matches are underway for the Vanguard season, with a lot on the line. The Elite tournament is run in both the North American and European circuits, with 8 teams qualifying to play in each of stage.

The stages last 3 weeks, with each team playing 7 group stage matches that lead into a double elimination bracket. Stage 4 of the Elites run from June 14th through June 29th, with bracket matches being played on June 28th and 29th.

With the Challengers Finals being announced last week, there is strong emphasis on pro points to make it into the tournament. Teams won’t just be fighting for a piece of the $50,000 prize pool, but also for the 15,000 pro points awarded to the winning team.

Here is how the pro point structure working for each Elite stage:

1st place – 15,000
2nd place – 10,000
3rd place – 7,500
4th place – 5,000
5th place – 4,000
6th place – 3,000
7th place – 2,500
8th place – 2,000

Key Storylines

The North American Elite is as competitive as its ever been, headlined by rising AM prospects and many ex-pro players. Ultra Academy NA has been finding the most success as of late, headlined by star player Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst. The squad is looking to win back-to-back Elite stages after winning Stage 3.

Another big talking point has been the increasing amount of ex-professional players now playing in the Elites. Out of the 32 players in the NA Elite, 15 have played in the CDL. This has added many storylines to the league but also added structure to the ever-changing tier 2 scene. Here are the players with CDL-experience taking on the Elite this stage:

  • Charlie “Hicksy” Hicks
  • Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst
  • Carson “Brack” Newberry
  • James “Clayster” Eubanks
  • Tyler “FeLo” Johnson
  • Darien “Hollow” Chverchko
  • Carlos “Venom” Hernandez
  • Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale
  • Adam “Assault” Garcia
  • Matthew “Royalty” Faithfull
  • Nicholas “Classic” DiCostanzo
  • Conor “Diamondcon” Johst
  • Preston “Prestinni” Sanderson
  • Adam “GodRx” Brown
  • Casey “Pandur” Romano
  • Alejandro “Lucky” López
  • Adrian “MeTTalZz” Serrano
  • Harry “Harry” Payne

On the European side, it starts with the battle of the Academy rosters. Both Ultra Academy and Rokkr Academy are 2-2 in the group stage and will play today at 3:00 pm EST. Both these squads need victories this week to make it into the playoff bracket.

A team to look out for is the mix team Aw0babobs, who are a perfect 4-0 so far with a 12-4 map count. ex-Texas Nation player Paul “Breszy” Breszynski has returned home and continued to find success in Vanguard. They will look to continue this success and target a perfect 7-0 split.
