Post Major IV: Every team’s strengthens and weaknesses

The Breaking Point Power Ranking

1st: OpTic Texas

Previous Ranking: 2nd (1)
Average Points Received : 10.9
Average Ranking Placement: 1.1
CDL Points : 290 (2nd)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Saturday May 13th, 6:00 pm EST vs Seattle Surge & Sunday May 14th, 4:30 pm EST vs Toronto Ultra

“OpTic have a date with the Toronto Ultra on May 14th that will be hands down their hardest matchup. This will pit two teams that have found great success in SnD so far this stage. OpTic have a 6-2 map count, but are 3-0 in SnD so far (2-0 on Embassy, 1-0 on Hotel). Toronto on the other hand are 2-0 in SnD so far (both wins on Embassy) so this matchup should have a great Embassy SnD within.”

T-2nd: Los Angeles Thieves

Previous Ranking: 1st (1)
Average Points Received : 9.1
Average Ranking Placement: 2.9
CDL Points : 255 (4th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Saturday May 13th, 4:30 pm EST vs Florida Mutineers

“LA has had a tough start to the qualifiers, going 0-2 in week 1 with a 3-6 map count. They will face Minnesota during week 3, which should be their hardest remaining match. The Thieves haven’t looked themselves in SnD, going 0-3 during the first week with losses on El Asilo, Embassy, and Hotel. The Rokkr on the other hand are 2-0 in the game mode with wins on Hotel & Mercado. While I don’t foresee the Thieves struggling in this match, Minnesota does have a way to make the series competitive,”

T-2nd: Toronto Ultra

Previous Ranking: 5th (2)
Average Points Received : 9.1
Average Ranking Placement: 2.9
CDL Points : 265 (3rd)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Sunday May 14th, 4:30 pm EST vs OpTic Texas

“As mentioned for OpTic, the Ultra will have their biggest test this Sunday against Texas. OpTic are one of, if not the best respawn team in the game. Their Control has improved greatly, going 2-0 in week 1 of the qualifiers. Toronto has matched their results, going 4-1 across both respawn modes so far in Stage 5. This should be a slugfest of a match, going right down to the wire.”

4th: Atlanta FaZe

Previous Ranking: 3rd (1)
Average Points Received : 8.3
Average Ranking Placement: 3.7
CDL Points : 305 (1st)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Friday May 12th, 6:00 pm EST vs Las Vegas Legion & Saturday May 13th, 3:00 pm EST vs London Royal Ravens

“Its no secret what Atlanta FaZe’s weaknesses have been so far this season. The respawn gameplay has not been at the level needed to match the other top teams so far. In week 3, Atlanta will match up against Boston Breach who are always a threat in respawn modes due to their high pace and slaying. The week 2 matchup against the Las Vegas Legion should also be noted. The Legion are a dangerous SnD team, so any slip ups and Las Vegas could pounce.”

5th: New York Subliners

Previous Ranking: 6th (1)
Average Points Received : 7.0
Average Ranking Placement: 5.0
CDL Points : 235 (5th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Saturday May 13th, 7:30 pm EST vs LA Guerrillas

“New York fell to the Legion, but turned the tide with a strong performance against LA Thieves to go 1-1 during week 1. Week 3 will be where their hardest match remaining will take place. On May 19th, the Subliners will take on the Seattle Surge. This will pit two of the best SMGs in the game against each other in what will surely be on the best matches of the weekend.”

6th: Boston Breach

Previous Ranking: 7th (1)
Average Points Received : 5.6
Average Ranking Placement: 6.4
CDL Points : 170 (7th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Friday May 12th, 4:30 pm EST vs Florida Mutineers & Sunday May 14th, 6:00 pm EST vs Seattle Surge

Boston have a tough schedule to end the qualifiers for Stage 5. They take on Florida, Seattle, Atlanta, and New York to fight for a spot in the Upper Bracket for Major V. The hardest match could be against the Atlanta FaZe in week 3. While statistically, the Breach should have the upper hand in respawn (3-0 in stage 5 so far), their SnD must be better to take down FaZe.”

7th: Las Vegas Legion

Previous Ranking: 9th (2)
Average Points Received : 5.3
Average Ranking Placement: 6.7
CDL Points : 140 (9th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Friday May 12th, 6:00 pm EST vs Atlanta FaZe & Sunday May 14th, 3:00 pm EST vs Minnesota Rokkr

“Las Vegas are fighting for their spot at Champs, and find themselves just 20 CDL points away from the 8th seed. Today will be their toughest test, matching up against the Atlanta FaZe at 6:00 pm EST. Atlanta are 2-2 in each of the three game modes, while the Legion are 2-2 in Hardpoint, 1-3 in SnD, and 2-0 in Control. If they can find success in Control and Hardpoint, they will have a great chance to push the FaZe to a map 5.”

8th: Seattle Surge

Previous Ranking: 6th (2)
Average Points Received : 4.3
Average Ranking Placement: 7.7
CDL Points : 180 (6th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Saturday May 13th, 6:00 pm EST vs OpTic Texas & Sunday May 14th, 6:00 pm EST vs Boston Breach

“Seattle fell from 6th to 8th in the rankings after a 0-3 loss to the Toronto Ultra. They must rebound this week and find their form. Their hardest test comes this Saturday against OpTic Texas. OpTic have been a terrific respawn team but have also gone 3-0 now in SnD. Seattle will have to find a way to slow them down and take it to them in the respawns. Both Pred and Sib will have to have a huge series for the Surge.”

9th: Minnesota RØKKR

Previous Ranking: 8th (1)
Average Points Received : 3.1
Average Ranking Placement: 8.9
CDL Points : 160 (8th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Sunday May 14th, 3:00 pm EST vs Las Vegas Legion

“Minnesota have be trying to fend off the Legion and keep control of the 8th seed for Champs. They’ve been successful but have a very hard remainder of the qualifiers. They will face Las Vegas, LAT, and Toronto over the next two weeks. All three are very difficult but the Thieves might just be the hardest. LA will be fighting very hard after going 0-2 in week 1 and have always been one of the best respawn teams in the game. They have struggled in SnD so far, just 0-3 in Week 1, so the Rokkr do have a way to make this a series.”

– Easy Mac

10th: Florida Mutineers

Previous Ranking: 10th ()
Average Points Received : 2.3
Average Ranking Placement: 9.7
CDL Points : 90 (10th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Friday May 12th, 4:30 pm EST vs Boston Breach & Saturday May 13th, 4:30 pm EST vs LA Thieves

“The Mutineers have been a team that is very hard to put away in a best of 5 series. They always find a way to stay alive and continue fighting. They will certainly be tested against the OpTic Texas in Week 3. While the Mutineers have always been a thorn for OpTic, Texas will be heavily favored. If the Mutineers can take one of the first two maps and come out strong in the Control, this could be an interesting series.”

11th: Los Angeles Guerrillas

Previous Ranking: 11th ()
Average Points Received : 0.6
Average Ranking Placement: 11.4
CDL Points : 70 (11th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Friday May 12th, 3:00 pm EST vs London Royal Ravens & Saturday May 13th, 7:30 pm EST vs New York Subliners

“This season has understandably very difficult for the players and the LAG franchise. They should be aiming to end the year on a high and make some noise in Toronto. To start, they must have a strong performance against the home town team Toronto Ultra. In week 3, the Guerrillas will matchup against the Ultra who could be looking past the Guerrillas. LAG has wins on Embassy HP and Hotel SnD, so there are maps that they can find a foothold on. They just have to enter that series with a mindset that they can do it and play to end their season with a great result.”

12th: London Royal Ravens

Previous Ranking: 12th (
Average Points Received : 0.
Average Ranking Placement: 11.6
CDL Points : 60 (12th)
Major V Qualifier Week 2 Matches : Friday May 12th, 3:00 pm EST vs LA Guerrillas & Saturday May 13th, 3:00 vs Atlanta FaZe

“London might be eliminated for Champs, but that doesn’t mean they can’t play spoiler and make some noise at the Major. London have a matchup booked with Atlanta FaZe this Saturday, which should be their hardest match left remaining. London will be a heavy underdog but there is still hope. If they can steal a couple of respawns, anything can happen in a map 5 SnD. Hope and hard work in the final couple of weeks has to be London’s mindset.”
