Best Competitive Class Setups Week 3 – Amateur Spotlight
This week’s competitive class builds is a special one. With the start of the amateur circuit this past weekend, we wanted to shine a light on the winners of the first Challenger Cups and give them a bit more recognition for their hard work. The first Challengers Cup was split into three regions; North America, Europe, and APAC. It was two days of tough competition that saw some favorites come out on top. The winners are listed below:
Baby FaZe (NA)
- GRVTY
- PaulEhx
- Venom
- Zap
House Tarth (EU)
- Afro
- Defrag
- Gismo
- Peatie
Renegades (APAC)
- Fighta
- Louqa
- Pred
- Shockz
These three teams performed exceptionally well and showed how strong they are in the first week. If you are interested in seeing the player statistics for the tournament, they are here. But let’s get cracking on the weapon classes.
AK74u
The AK74u has continued to stay on top in the SMG battle over the course of the third week. The weapon is strong in the close & medium range fight, which makes it a go-to for SMG slayers. The task force barrel has become a staple for classes as it adds a buff to damage, damage range, and bullet velocity. It’s a crucial attachment to allow the gun to compete at medium ranges.
Zap & Venom (Baby FaZe)
Zaptius and Venxm were the SMG slaying duo for Baby FaZe during the Challengers Cup. They both played extremely well and dominated in the respawn modes. The build they use is the same as most professionals currently, as most SMG players have found a core 3 attachments that are used in every class. The Task Force Barrel, Spetsnaz Elastic Wrap, and KGB Skeletal Stock are all go-to’s when starting an AK74u class. Their build tacks on Spetsnaz Speedgrip and Muzzle brake to both decrease reoil and give a movement boost. With 3 major categories buffed in the firepower department, the 3 major speed categories buff, as well as the sprinting movement speed, makes this a very good class build. With smokes GA’d in respawns, the duo opts to use Tactical Mask & Flak Jacket, as they both use the LawBreaker Wildcard with Ninja over Gung-ho equipped. Give this build a go in respawns and you won’t regret it.
The 5 attachments are:
- Muzzle Brake
- 10.3” Task Force Barrel
- Spetsnaz Speedgrip
- GRU Elastic Wrap Handle
- KGB Skeletal Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
Pred (Renegades)
Pred is a major prospect coming from the APAC region. He’s a very aggressive SMG that helped bring Renegades to the next level and win the first cup. Pred’s class is a lot like the previous build but with the Foregrip instead of the Speedgrip. The foregrip decreases the recoil but doesn’t give that sprint speed buff that players are finding useful. Pred opts to use Tactical Mask & Flak Jacket, and Ninja as his 3rd perk. It’s a great class to try for the AK74u.
The 5 attachments are:
- Muzzle Brake
- 10.3” Task Force Barrel
- Foregrip
- GRU Elastic Wrap Handle
- KGB Skeletal Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
afro (House Tarth)
The last AK74u comes from Afro of House Tarth. Afro was instrumental to the success of House Tarth in the Challengers’ Cup, finishing with a 1.20 overall KD. He uses 4 of the 5 attachments that the Baby FaZe duo use, but with a Spetsnaz Compensator instead of a Muzzle Brake. While I do not personally prefer the Compensator because it increases horizontal recoil by 8% while decreasing vertical recoil by 8%. Vertical recoil is high with the Task Force Barrel already but vertical recoil is much easier to control than horizontal. In the end, it’s the users’ preference.
The 5 attachments are:
- Spetsnaz Compensator
- 10.3” Task Force Barrel
- Spetsnaz Speedgrip
- GRU Elastic Wrap Handle
- KGB Skeletal Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
KRIG 6
The Krig 6 continues to be the main AR used in competitive play, outplaying the AK47 still. The Krig is very effective at long range and a 4 shot kill if there is a single headshot. The gun is a do-it-all and gave us many highlights over the weekend. Check out these builds to truly unlock your Krig.
GRVTY & PAULEHX (Baby FaZe)
The Baby FaZe AR duo put in work this past Cup, dominating the backline in their run to victory. Both players rock the same 5 attachments, making the Krig a laser. Thanks to the wrap and stock, the gun has the 3 major speed categories in ADS, aiming movement speed, and sprint out time all are buffed. The Muzzle Brake decreases the vertical recoil and the field agent grip eliminated the flinch and decreases recoil. It’s a great class to hold down the backline and win the AR battle.
The 5 attachments are:
- Microflex Sight
- Muzzle Brake
- Field Agent Grip
- Airborne Elastic Wrap Handle
- Raider Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho (GRVTY uses Engineer over Gung-ho)
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
Louqa (renegades)
Louqa is known for his time on the Paris Legion last season in the CDL, breaking out as a solid flex player. Returning to the APAC region for 2021, he joined the stacked Renegades roster. Louqa helped Renegades walk through the APAC Cup, locking in the AR battle as the slaying flex player. He uses four of the five attachments from the previous class, with the main change being the Ranger Barrel added in for the Muzzle Brake. With the Krig already having minimal recoil, Louqa opted to increase Bullet Velocity with the barrel. The class is stacked, and great to use in competitive play.
The 5 attachments are:
- Microflex Sight
- 19.7” Ranger Barrel
- Field Agent Grip
- Airborne Elastic Wrap Handle
- Raider Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Flak Jacket
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
XM4
Gismo (House Tarth)
The single XM4 class in the article, Gismo looked very good with this build. His 1.27 SnD KD shined on House Tarth, and there were multiple get plays that Gismo made with his XM4. His build locks in the Field Agent Grip, Elastic Wrap, and Raider Pad that all AR classes use. He opts to use the Extended Barrel to increase Bullet Velocity, as both recoils are already buffed. The class is a very good competitor to the Krig builds. but the Krig will beat it in TTK if it hits headshots. It’s a great class to use to switch it up for an AR class.
The 5 attachments are:
- Microflex Sight
- 13.7” Extended Barrel
- Field Agent Grip
- Airborne Elastic Wrap Handle
- Raider Pad
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
