Best Competitive Class Setups Week 2 – Rise of the AK74u
We are now two weeks into the new game and competitive players are continuing to figure out what should be allowed in competitive play and what should be banned.
This week saw a new set of adjustments to the listed gentlemen’s agreements. With the League still on their 1st ruleset, players are at version 1.0.2 currently. The major part of the ruleset in question is whether lasers should be allowed as attachments. It was agreed upon by players to GA the use of lasers, as well as multiple other attachments and equipment restrictions. Here is a breakdown from CDL Intel on Twitter:
This leads to a big revamp in competitive classes, as most players used Steady Aim Lasers on their loadouts. Before we breakdown the loadouts, we’d like to explain the reasoning behind a couple of the GAs. While we might not agree or understand some GAs from the outside, GAs are needed to make the game more playable and better for the viewer. The laser attachments were banned because of how well ARs, more specifically the AK47, were handling in close-quarter engagements versus SMGs. The KGB/Socom Eliminator was banned because it significantly reduces the time the red dot is on the minimap after firing. So after this new batch of GAs, we have the best competitive classes of week 2.
This is a long article, we didn’t want to break it up just for clicks so this is the hub of week 2 class setups. We have 4 AK74u builds, 2 MP5 classes, 2 Krig builds, 2 AK47 classes, and 2 special bonuses. Each class includes perks and utilities this week and has YouTube videos if the players broke down their classes there. Hope you guys enjoy it and let us know how these classes perform in-game.
AK74u
With the ban of smokes in respawn, we have seen a large number of AK74us enter into the meta. While the MP5 has the upper hand in close-quarter engagements, the AK74u is better at range. This gives SMGs a better chance to break hills and battle at range in respawns. Therefore, we have started seeing 1 to 2 AK74us per team in Hardpoints depending on the map and hill. With the increased usage and interest in the weapon, we have decided to do 4 class setups for the highlighted weapon this week.
Scump
Seth “Scump” Abner had some growing pains during the first week of practice while he was trying to figure out which SMG was better for his playstyle. The OpTic SMG Slayer landed on the AK74u this week and looked very good on it. His Lawbreaker build decreases recoil while increasing firepower, ADS, and sprint-out speed. The class increases both the effective damage range (+18%) and bullet velocity (+80%) to help the gun compete better at range. While the hipfire spread and base movement speed are worse, the class is amazing for SMG players trying to survive in an AR World.
The 5 attachments are:
- Spetsnaz Compensator
- 9.3” VDV Reinforced Barrel
- Spetsnaz Speedgrip Foregrip
- GRU Elastic Wrap Handle
- KGB Skeletal Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade

abezy/simp
The Tiny Terrors have been running rampant in scrimmages in the second week. Both players have rocked the same AK74u class this week, and fried opponents with ease. The class has an increased hipfire spread and worse recoil but has significantly increased firepower and movement. It allows the duo to be aggressive and hold its own versus ARs, as the players hop from gunfight to gunfight quickly. The damage, range, and bullet velocity are all increased, make the gun rule close and mid-range fights. Then the class also has a bump in each of the 3 most speed categories; ADS, Aim movement speed, and sprint-out time. This is at the top of the list for best builds this week.
The 5 attachments are:
- Muzzle Brake
- 10.3” Task Force Barrel
- Foregrip

Attach
Dillon “Attach” Price of the Minnesota Rokkr is the next player we watched closely this week. The SMG Flex player started to use the AK74u more and more over the week and ended up with this build. All three major speed categories are increased, as well as increased bullet velocity and decreased recoil. It’s a solid build for players wanting to be aggressive and not have as serve of recoil. Give it a go and let us know how it works for you.
Here is Attach breaking down his class set up and his decision making on the attachments:

ENVOY
The final AK74u class comes to us thanks to Dylan “Envoy” Hannon of the Chicago Huntsmen. Like his SMG duo Scump, Envoy really started to prefer the AK74u this week in practice. His build utilizes the Tack Force barrel, giving the gun a lot more firepower. While it has slightly worse recoil and hip-fire spread, the gun rivals the FaZe build. Envoy’s class setup also changes some of the perks and utility. He opts to use the Flash grenade over the Stun, and uses the Perk 1 duo Flak Jacket & Engineer instead of using two perks from the Perk 3 slot. Fore players trying to compete versus ARs while using an SMG and be in charge of taking down enemy equipment, this is your build.
The 5 attachments are:

Below are the updated values for this class build class:
MP5
The top choice for SMGs during the first week of practice, the MP5 has really declined in usage in Week 2. While the gun is still good up close thanks to the fire rate, with no smokes in respawns it’s very difficult to get into close range fights without getting picked off by ARs from distance. Players have opted to use the better SMG for range instead, the AK74u. The weapon can still be used if the player properly picks out their fights and are smart with the weapon. Here are some of the classes star SMGs used this week:
Shotzzy
The Dallas Empire star SMG player was one of the few players to rock the MP5 to end this week in practice. His build focuses on increasing speed and decreasing recoil so that the user can be aggressive on the map and take advantage of the MP5s top qualities. While the build has a slight decrease in the base movement speed, the 3 major categories are all buffed. It’s a class that’ll allow you to still rock the MP5 on the small maps and more close-quarter hills in Hardpoint.
The 5 attachments are:
- Infantry Compensator
- 9.5” Extended Barrel
- SFOD Speedgrip Foregrip
- Airborne Elastic Wrap Handle
- Raider Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard
- Perk 1 – Tactical Mask
- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
Envoy
The Chicago Entry SMG is back on the list, this time for his MP5 build. His is unique because it increases the damage range and bullet velocity, making the weapon better at range. It also decreases recoil and buffs the ADS & sprint-out speed, but also decreases some of the movement speed and widens the hipfire. It’s a build that’ll still let you compete up close, but also more in the mid-range fights. Give it a run and let us know how it flies.
The 5 attachments are:

Below are the updated values for this class build class:
KRIG 6
While a lot of the attention was on the AK47 in the AR category this week, the Krig 6 has silently continued to be the weapon of choice for Main AR and slower Flex players. The Krig is a laser beam, resembling the ICR from Black Ops 4. The gun is good at both far and medium-range engagements and locks down lanes with ease. Here are two great builds brought to us from the young eU cadets duo iLLeY & Cellium:
illey
Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal and the rest of the Dallas Empire have been rocking this laser of a Krig class in practice recently. The gun doesn’t have an upgraded barrel, so the firepower statistics all stayed the same. But it does have decreased recoil, 90% less flinch, and increased speed. In the speed categories ADS, Aim movement speed, sprint movement speed, and sprint out speed are all increased. It’s a great class to move around the map and locking down lanes.
The 5 attachments are:
- Millstop Sight
- Infantry Compensator
- SFOD Speedgrip Foregrip
- Airborne Elastic Wrap Handle
- Raider Stock
Perk/Utility Build
- Lawbreaker Wildcard

- Perk 2 – Gung-ho
- Perk 3 – Ninja
- Semtex/Stun Grenade
Below are the updated values for this class build class:
cellium
McArthur “Cellium” Jovel brings us the second Krig class. The former eU cadet, now Atlanta FaZe star has been an early user of the Krig in competitive play. His build is close to that of iLLeY’s, as it doesn’t have a barrel and switched the muzzle and foregrip. The class has significantly less recoil and flinch, and has buffs to the 3 major speed categories. If you want to rock this class, you have to remember…
You can do it too, FaZe Up
The 5 attachments are:

Below are the updated values for this class build class:
AK47
The most talked-about weapon of the week was most defiantly the AK47. The gun was even banned in EU Challengers interestingly, as they thought the weapon was too strong to be used. The gun has better damage but a slower fire rate than the Krig, which allows the AK to win out close/medium range versus the Krig. With no smokes on the battlefield in respawns, the AK instantly became a great weapon because it allowed players to lock down the mid-range areas of the maps. The laser GA was brought up because of the AK47’s dominance up close too. The weapon needed to be toned down so that AR players weren’t winning too many close-quarter engagements over SMGs. So here are the updated professional builds we found after the laser GA:
Octane
Sam “Octane” Larew has found his laser beam class, mowing down enemies this week with his AK47 build. It’s our lone Gunfighter build in this article, mainly because Lawbreaker is the go-to currently and guns like MP5/AK74u would only use 6 attachments. This build only has 7 of the 8 attachments due to the laser ban. In true Main AR fashion, the weapon has the RPK barrel to increase the firepower significantly. The build also buffs the 3 main speed categories and decreased the flinch 90%. It’s a great class to hold down the backlines and hold down lanes.

BONUS – LW3 TUNDRA & M16
As for a bonus this week, we’ll bring you a sniping class for Search & Destroy matchups and a bonus M16 class thanks to Octane. The Tundra is the preferred sniper of choice early on this season, and Simp has looked deadly on the power weapon. The young gun has historically been unstoppable on the big gun and this season doesn’t look any different. We’ll break down his class below to help give you a better chance in the sniper v sniper battles.
The 2nd class is an M16 build by Octane. While Tactical Rifles are currently GA’d from the competitive ruleset, there is no one stopping you from styling on Timmys in pubs with this class setup. Here is Octane’s video on the class and some proof it’ll give you a laser:

SIMP
The deadly Tiny Terror has been seen dominating SnD this past week, and already landed himself a couple of very nice sniping clips. His sniping build changed from the week before, and now only uses 5 attachments. While the ADS is slightly slower and hipfire spread wider, it has significantly increased firepower, handling, and speed. It’ll allow you to aggressively take fights and not worry about hitmarkers. Give it a run and let us know how this boomstick works.
The 5 attachments are:
- Infantry Compensator
- 28.2” Tiger Team Barrel
- Infiltrator Foregrip
- SARS Jungle Gri[ Handle
