Best Competitive Class Setups Week 1

Black Ops Cold War has been out for almost two weeks and competitive players are now starting to scrimmage and prepare for the start of the season. With the majority of the professional teams streaming their practice, we have been able to grab some of the best class sets ups used by the professional players.

AK47

The AK47 was thrust into the meta when the FFAR-1 was nerfed last week. After the update assault rifle players were searching for the next best AR to fill that void. The answer? Many players are leaning towards the AK47. Players have enjoyed the punch that the gun packs, combined with the solid fire rate and damage range. Here are two classes that stood out this week.

Arcitys

The first class that we look at is from the Atlanta FaZe Main AR, Alec “Arcitys” Sanderson. Arcitys opts to use the Lawbreaker Wildcard, the newly popular wildcard that allows you to equip multiple perks from 1 category. The Overkill portion of the Wildcard is restricted under competitive rules, but the perk section allows players to use either Flak Jacket/Tactical Mask or GungHo/Ninja at the same time. This Wildcard pick means Alec only has 5 attachments to play around with on his AK47.

He opts to improve both the movement and accuracy of the weapon. The recoil and flinch have been improved, while the hip-fire spread is wider than the base value. In the Speed category, the shooting movement speed is significantly slowed, but the ADS, sprint out speed, and aim walking speed are all improved. It’s a great class for ARs that lockdown lanes and hold the backlines.

The 5 attachments are:

  • Muzzle Brake
  • Spetsnaz Foregrip
  • GRU Elastic Wrap Handle
  • KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Microflex Sight

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

Dashy

Brandon “Dashy” Otell of the Chicago OpTic is that next player we look to for an AK47 class. He uses the Lawbreaker Wildcard as well in his class build, leaving him with just 5 attachments to improve the AK47. He has been changing up his class frequently over the first couple of days of scrimmages but this was one of his main builds.

The AR star uses many of the same attachments as our previous build by Arcitys, just with a significant change between the Muzzle Break and 20′ Liberator Barrel. This leads to a 100% increase in the Bullet Velocity (from 490 -> 980) but decreases the aim walking speed by 20%. Overall, many of the same categories are increased or decreased with just the addition of Bullet Velocity and the recoil and aim walking speed aren’t increased as much as Alec’s class was. It is still a very good AR class and with the increased bullet speed, it fixes some of the hit reg issues the AK has at times.

The 5 attachments are:

  • 20” Liberator Barrel
  • Spetsnaz Foregrip
  • GRU Elastic Wrap Handle
  • KGB Skeletal Stock
  • Microflex Sight

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

Krig

The second assault rifle that has taken a larger presence in the current meta after the FFAR-1 nerf is the Krig 6. This gun is a laser beam and has very good firepower numbers to go along. Below is a chart showcasing where the Krig beats the AK at their base levels. The AK has a decent bump in the damage category but loses in every other significant category. The Krig at the base level has better damage range, fire rate, bullet velocity, recoil, reload speed, and more. Below are two classes that stood out this week in scrimmages.

Crimsix

The World Champion Main AR of the Dallas Empire, Ian “Crimsix” Porter has been using the Krig to lockdown the backlines this week. He opts to use the Gunfighter Wildcard that gives him a full 8 attachments on his rifle. This leaves him with just 1 perk from each slot but makes his gun a laser on the map.

The weapon sees many improvements across the 4 categories including bullet velocity, ADS, sprint out speeds, recoil, ammo capacity, and more. The only significant decreases in values are with the slower reload speed, wider hipfire, and slower shooting movement speed. It’s a class that is great at range and gives you the mobility to move around the map. Give it a go in respawns and let us know how it feels.

The 8 attachments are:

  • Muzzle Brake
  • 19.7” Ranger Barrel
  • Field Agent Grip
  • Steady Aim Laser
  • Airborne Elastic Wrap Handle
  • 40 Round Mag
  • Raider Stock
  • Microflex Sight

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

KENNY

Star Flex player for the LA Thieves, Ken “Kenny” Williams is the owner of our 2nd highlighted Krig class. He uses the Gunfighter Wildcard as well, stocking his Krig 6 with 8 attachments to make the ultimate weapon on the battlefield. There are a couple of changes in Kenny’s loadout compared to that of Crimsix, including a different barrel and muzzle.

Kenny’s class setup sees the same 3 stats decrease, with the slower reload speed, wider hipfire, and slower shooting movement speed. But his class does have a lot of positives. The sprint out time and aim walking speed are heavily buffed, and the recoil is decreased significantly. It’s a great class to give a go in Cold War.

The 8 attachments are:

  • Infantry Compensator
  • 19.7” Ranger Barrel
  • Field Agent Grip
  • Steady Aim Laser
  • Field Tape Handle
  • 40 Round Mag
  • Raider Stock
  • Millstop Sight

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

MP5

The MP5 saw a nerf very early on in the game, where the effective damage range was significantly reduced. It was due to the MP5 being able to challenge assault rifles from distance and needed to be toned down to suit the role it was designed for. Below are two updated classes from two of the best SMGs in the League.

abezy

Known for his relentless aggression, Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris was the easy pick to see what he was rocking on his MP5. In the current meta, we see only 1 t0 2 SMGs on the map per team currently, as the meta is heavily leaning towards ARs. That makes the job difficult for SMGs to be effective and put pressure around the map.

Tyler’s class looks to significantly upgrade the MP5 in the speed categories while decreasing recoil and increasing bullet velocity. The gun has increased the aim movement speed, bullet velocity, ADS, spring out time, and decreased the recoil. It allows the star SMG to fly around the map and engage into guns with ease. It’s a true do-it-all SMG that will give you a fair shot on the battlefield.

The 5 attachments are:

  • 9.5” Extended Barrel
  • Muzzle Brake
  • Field Agent Foregrip
  • Serpent Wrap Handle
  • Raider Stock

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

scump

The next class is from none other than the King, Seth “Scump” Abner. While the Chicago Huntsmen haven’t practiced too much yet, Scump has been trying out different builds for his MP5. Over the course of a couple of scrimmages, Scump seemed to have found a class he liked and started to play pretty well. The gun he found is very different from the one aBeZy uses, opting to change out 4 of the 5 attachments. He chooses to focus on one thing; Speed. While the base movement speed takes a small hit, the sprint speed, ADS, and sprint out speed all see significant increases. The weapon also has increased bullet velocity and less horizontal recoil. While it may not seem like the weapon is a perfect balance, it does allow Scump to move around the map fast.

The 5 attachments are:

  • 9.5” Extended Barrel
  • Steady Aim Laser
  • Speedgrip Foregrip
  • Speed Tape Handle
  • No Stock

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

AK74u

With the nerf of both the MP5 and FFAR-1, many guns have had an opportunity to enter the meta. The AK74u was one of those weapons, as some players believe it can be the Flex weapon that is able to control the medium-range gunfights. With the correct attachments, the weapon can do very well in the competitive scene.

TJHALY

Thomas “TJHaly” Haly of the LA Thieves was one of the players jumping at the chance to bring the gun into the meta. With the Thieves experimenting with different weapon compositions with the trial 4th Temp, the AK74u saw increased usage as the scrims went along. Here is the build that TJ ended up giving a go.

It’s a class that uses the LawBreaker Wildcard, so the weapon only has 5 attachments on it. Luckily, the AK74u has a clean iron sight, meaning 1 attachment doesn’t have to be taken up by a sight. He then focuses on decreasing recoil, while increasing both speed and firepower. He successfully increases the firepower by increasing both bullet velocity and the effective damage range, allowing the weapon to compete against ARs. Check it out below.

The 5 attachments are:

  • Spetsnaz Compensator
  • Spetsnaz Speedgrip Foregrip
  • 9.3” VDV Reinforced Barrel
  • Speed Tape Handle
  • No Stock

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

HUKE

The final class we look at today is from the star SMG of the Dallas Empire, Cuyler “Huke” Garland. Recently in practice, Dallas has been using more and more AK74u’s around the map. They were one of the first squads seen using 2 at times, and Huke was one of the players making plays around the map with the weapon.

His build is slightly different from that of TJHaly, opting to change the barrel, handle, and stock. This leads to his weapon not having an increased effective damage range but faster speed numbers and a decreased flinch. His build has significant improvements to the ADS, sprint out speed, and aim walking speed. It’s a class that allows him to move around the map fast and fight for the hill quickly in Hardpoint.

The 5 attachments are:

  • Spetsnaz Compensator
  • Spetsnaz Speedgrip Foregrip
  • 9.3” Extended Barrel
  • Elastic Wrap Handle
  • KGB Skeletal Stock

Below are the updated values for this class build class:

These are just 8 of the countless different class setups that we saw this week in practices around the league. Luckily, almost all of the professional teams should be practicing this week and we’ll be able to update you with more class setups next Monday.
